The AfricaConnect project aims to establish a high-capacity Internet network for research and education in Southern and Eastern Africa to provide the region with a gateway to global research collaboration. AfricaConnect seeks to address the findings of the FEAST Study and the objectives and priorities of the ACP Connect Programme, to contribute to the modernisation and development of education and research in Sub-Saharan countries. The AfricaConnect project is coordinated by DANTE (Delivery of Advanced Network Technology to Europe) and partnered by the UbuntuNet Alliance, representing the NRENs of East and Southern Africa. Knowledge Partnership Programme (KPP) is a South–South cooperation programme promoting knowledge sharing in the areas of Climate Change, Resource Scarcity and Food Security; Health and Disease Control; Trade and Investment; and Women and Girls. The aim is to step up collaboration around ideas, knowledge, evidence, accountability, technology and innovation between UK, India and the developing countries of Sub Saharan Africa and South East Asia. KPP has connected with 18 countries in Africa leveraging the following studies/projects, e.g. "Making Indian Development Assistance more Effective in Africa by Building Better Synergies between India's South-South Co-operation and the Indian Private Sector" and "Case Studies from Kenya, India and South Africa of the Middle class and their impact on democracy – documenting the lessons for Policy Reform & Development."
