Mukanda is a document database for central Africa. Its aim is not to digitalize all the data in our hands, but, more modestly, to make useful information available to other researchers and in turn gain access to information that we may find useful. Mukanda is an interdisciplinary database with no restrictions on genre, format, language or area of research. Mukanda currently specializes in the cultural history of the countries concerned, which for the moment are essentially the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Burundi. Currently, Mukanda offers an archive containing around 23 000 indexed references. Mukanda was orginally set up thanks to a research grant awarded by the Universitaire Instelling Antwerpen (Belgium). The database is currently run by the Ecritures Literature Research Centre at the University of Lorraine. ... [according to site editor's information]
